Colorado Moms Tour: Ann Pogue Discusses Teens and Internet Safety
This clip from our recent Colorado Moms Tour stop features Ann Pogue, 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado, s she discusses internet crimes, online predators, and teen sexting issues.
Ann points out that 98% of the sexual assault instances she sees are when the child knew the perpetrator before the assault and what parents should look for and be aware of to help prevent these incidents.
Regarding internet safety, Ann encourages parents to set real boundaries with their kids, especially teenage, around what is allowed and not allowed. Being aware of which social media platforms your kids are on and understanding how they work is crucial to protecting kids from predators because the predators DO know how they work and they do know how to target kids through these apps.
